Ajuga
It develops a fast-growing, tidy mat of tightly-knit rosettes of colorful foliage, punctuated in the spring with stalks of perky flowers. Similar to many fellow members of the mint family, ajuga is sometimes invasive, enthusiastically taking over whole garden beds and sneaking into the lawn.

Ajuga – Making sure your Ajuga is in the right place in your yard - Locate ajuga in either sun or partial shade in well-drained soil. Soil must drain well, however, because ajuga is prone to rots and fungal diseases that are fostered by soggy soil.
Using Ajuga
Types of ajuga with multi-colored leaves are somewhat better used as accents rather than for covering large areas. Like most groundcovers, ajuga makes a good living mulch under shrubs where it discourages weeds and protects soil.
Problems of Ajuga
Soil-dwelling fungi cause this serious disease, which can kill plants within a few days. To prevent the spread to nearby areas covered with ajuga, spray the uninfected plants with a garden sulfur fungicide according to label instructions.
